Website Of The Week – Archive.org

The Internet Archive, through the Wayback Machine, delivers you to a time when the web was a lot less of a web.  Archive.org has spent a large portion of time, crawling the internet (technically, as well as figuratively), to keep track of the information as it used to be.  One can easily look at their favorite website from 15 years ago, and see how it progressed.  Yahoo.com did not always look the way it did, for instance.  Yahoo.com, when it started, was a small assembly of hyperlinks that were managed by methodical (and perhaps maniacal) people, who had manual input into everything it did.  It’s a far cry from the automated giant that it is today.  Check out ComputerTalkRadio.com from 2 years ago, and compare it to it’s look today, or check out your employers website.  It’s fun to look to the past.
