Call me cynical on this. I don’t know that this anti-robocall bill will get very far. We have these ideas that government can legislate a solution to off-shore scammers, using VoIP (essentially voice over the internet), who spoof return information, and change practices faster than most people change their minds… but in the end, it’ll be little progress. It’s far too easy to setup a new company, a shell amongst many shells, to simply assault us with even more pitches for things we don’t want.

The House of Representatives has approved an anti-robocalling measure, dialing up the heat that Congress has been pressing on telecoms and the Federal Communications Commission due to the onslaught of harmful calls over the past few months.
