I wonder if this will be great or horrible. We just saw a few weeks ago where Apple was denying third party batteries. We also see how the company has to have an Apple-certified technician on staff, but it doesn’t mean that same tech will be working on your product. I also wonder if those independent repair shops will be large companies with deep pockets, instead of the mom-and-pop businesses that really make up most of our American Dream. On Thursday, Apple introduced a program that will allow independent computer repair shops access to the same resources available to Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP), a significant policy shift that could help level a market the company has been deterring unauthorized battery replacements and lobbying against right to repair legislation.
