We will be talking about this topic on Computer Talk Radio this week. In essense, Apple is locking you to their batteries. Can you imagine Dodge saying “oh, you can only use an authorized Mopar (Dodge) battery in our trucks”? Everyone would be going crazy over this. Samsung will soon follow suit, quietly, as they do the same thing as Apple, just later so it doesn’t hit the news.
It’s yet another change that keep iPhone owners inside Apple’s ecosystem. Thanks to a change on Apple’s part, you’ll be basically left with a permanent warning message if you do. The only way to make the service message go away? Take the phone to an Apple store or Apple-authorized service center, where they can flip whatever software switch needs to be reset.
