Having spent much of my life in California, I’m very familiar with this company. They also did electronics recycling, so hearing that they are disappearing is a concern. We need to all be paying attention to our role in keeping the planet clean, and reusing items, but unlike the closing lines of this article, I don’t think we need to be subsidizing recycling centers.

RePlanet closed all 284 of its centers, and company president David Lawrence said the decision was driven by increased business costs and falling prices of recycled aluminum and PET plastic, the San Jose Mercury News reported.
