A scary idea that the government can now go after the names of owners of apps. This information is to see if anyone broke obscure exportation laws pertaining to the International Trafficking of Arms Regulations (ITAR). Still, the issue remains as to if they will find people who can be prosecuted, or instead, find out how many people have the money to buy expensive guns and apps. This is a fishing expedition and could get even crazier in the near future.
Apple and Google have been ordered by the U. S. government to hand over names, phone numbers and IP addresses of thousands of gun scope owners. It’s an unprecedented move by the U.S. government in asking Silicon Valley to support a weapons export investigation.
