An interesting report makes the case that a few people out there might be better off with a CRT. I understand the approach, and have seen some similar demonstrations in real live. The drawback is finding some of the top notch screens. The mentioned Sony Trinitron based FW900 in the article is available on eBay right now for the bargain rate of $1000 (and you have to pick it up in PA, as it’s 100 lbs). OK… perhaps this is only for the really rich gamer with a good back.

CRT monitors can still be great for modern gaming and even look and perform better than their modern LCD counterparts. They are big, bulky, and in some cases expensive, but the results are spectacular. With no input lag, no native resolution, and no motion resolution drops, they can look great even in modern games.
