Outside parties determining what is a crime and what isn’t is a fair concern for all. What concerns me is that when we start cutting off access, or determining International crimes, we may find that the long arm of the law of smaller countries may wind up with courts levying criminal charges not unlike a recent Pakistani professor who was sentenced to death in his own country for internet blasphemy.

The United Nations on Friday approved a Russian-led bid that aims to create a new convention on cybercrime, alarming rights groups and Western powers that fear a bid to restrict online freedom. The General Assembly approved the resolution sponsored by Russia and backed by China.
