In the latest twist on free speech and communication, Twitter is now preparing to offer control over who can reply to you. Now in some ways that’s fine, but we can’t have a discourse if we shut down all those who disagree with us. When we shut down and shut out all who disagree with us, we then become secluded and closed minded. I understand shutting down specific abusive people, but large swaths? Nahh…
Twitter has announced it will test new ways to limit online abuse by offering users control over who can reply to tweets. “We want to help people feel safe participating in the conversation on Twitter by giving them more control over the conversations they start,” the company tweeted.
