Your next car may upload data on all of your driving habits. It’s being sold as a way to improve your life, and change your insurance premiums. I don’t see this changing your insurance for the better, however. I see this also as one of many different ways that things we buy, are being used to spy on us. Insurance will use these findings to rule against you in a crash that wasn’t your fault, and the one who was at fault will also have to pay. It’s a bad deal for all.
Toyota has expanded its collaboration with Amazon Web Services in ways that will see many of its models upload performance data into the Amazonian cloud to expand the services the auto-maker offers to drivers and fleet owners.

Toyota already operates a “Mobility Services Platform” that it says helps it to “develop, deploy, and manage the next generation of data-driven mobility services for driver and passenger safety, security, comfort, and convenience”.
