Rather than fix a feature that allowed spam in close captions, YouTube shut down the ability for the hearing to contribute to the deaf community. Worse yet was the timing… at the end of the International Week of the Deaf. Predictably, I don’t think that Google/YouTube will listen to the complaints from the hearing or the hard of hearing.
The deaf community criticizes YouTube for removing the community contributions feature that allowed channels to crowdsource captions and subtitles.
