I remember working for a retail toy store during the Cabbage Patch Kids years. The electronics industry has driven much of the supply-demand tricks over the years, by underdelivering stock, and hyping up to build demand. Scalpers have come along each time, seeing something big. The idea that a retailer would fight back like this is amazing, and a strong stance for the consumer. Kudos.

Scalpers bragged about their haul too early, and now their orders have been cancelled.
