An unexpected statistic shows that the average gamer is not a deadbeat teenager, chugging down some high caffeine, high sugar rocket fuel to stay awake. It’s apparently just your normal average person. Men are slightly more likely to play, or class themselves as gamers, and the style of gaming differs, but it’s actually a decent hobby, and a great form of escapism for the past year.
The average ‘gamer’ is a full-time professional, in his late thirties, and a dad of three, according to research. Those who enjoy computer games are more likely to be family men, property owners and commanding a salary in excess of $50,000 a year. Women spend just under an hour-and-a-half a day gaming, compared to men who spend an hour and 40 minutes, which is most commonly spent on a PlayStation.
