Years ago, we went through an education issue for widescreen movies on the old TV’s. Movies were shot somewhere around 16:9, but TV’s were 4:3. You just worked with the bars on top and bottom if you wanted to see the wide picture from the theater. Today, if you’re going to watch HBO Max’s release of the Snyder Cut for Justice League, it’s going to be in an interesting format. 4:3… what our old TVs used to use. This is intentional, but not for the reason you think. It’s to show everything that was intended to be seen in the movie theater… IMAX movie theater.
