I find it amazing that AT&T would be doing this, but they are actively lobbying against fiber across the country. Why? They claim that 10Mbps uploads are good enoughf or anyone. Strange, as that’s the upload speed that I had nearly 20 years ago. Today, I get 400/40 or something close to that. It’s not unreasonable for most people to get enough bandwidth to cater to all upload and download needs. Also, we pay more for our speed than in most countries… and while we are spread out and have many rural areas, if you’re close enough to a major city, you shouldn’t have to pay two to three times what they do in any random country in Europe.

AT&T admits fiber is most “future-proof” but wants US to fund slower networks.
