Claims of a LinkedIn breach came out this week. It’s a little different this time, as LinkedIn is noting that it appears to be all information that was “scraped” or actually available publicly. This is an indication that we are moving into a different type of world where the hackers are becoming professional data miners. Now, as they combine this data with more information, this will all get crazy. They’ve been doing small scale, but it’s now at a point where merging data from multiple sources is now more valuable to them, and they can earn higher dollars. Look for it to continue.

Report claims ‘breach’ led to profiles belonging to 92% of LinkedIn users being put up for sale on a popular hacker forum
