A massive DDoS attack happened this past week as a Microsoft customer experienced peaks of traffic hitting 2.4 Terabits per second. 70,000 computers were involved, so that’s the equivalent of trying 70,000 people coming through your front door at the same time. Digitally, it was the equivalent of each of them sending a very large 35 MB PowerPoint every second. This was the biggest attack on Microsoft’s record, and lasted only a few minutes before being shutdown. This does indicate that cyberterrorism is getting to be a big thing.
