Microsoft will now monitor your every word to see if you are participating in groupthink. Yes, your grammar checker will now evaluate if you are using the proper language to not express negative or problematic phrases that include gender, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. The problem that I see with this, is that it is being foisted upon people, whether they wish this feature or not. Purple underlines will guide you towards the acceptable, and it has a certain creep factor that rings similar to towing the part line. I’m not sure that we need this level of nanny monitoring in our lives.
