8 years ago, Google Glass was being sold, and it was a strange and clunky product. Others have tried since, and while we can’t buy Google Glass anymore (but some companies can), Google announced smart glasses again this week… this time being able to translate languages in real time. The translation will come up on screen as before, and it’s a better design than before, even if still nerd fashion. I admire their push and effort to bring something like this to us, but I can’t help but wonder if we’ll ever see (no pun intended) what we want out of these things.

Essentially, it looks as if the glasses will transcribe speech in real time and display them as subtitles.
