Amazon hit Prime Day, and at the same time, a release of information on how drastic their tracking of workers is. They tracked one worker, and quizzed down the Time Off Task. They have little PDAs which track every moment of non-work, including restroom breaks, conversations, and location, and more. More than 3 days with over 30 minutes off-task in a year, and they can be fired. The time involved to recreate and investigate, however, must be monumental, as a spreadsheet released showed 5 different entries, where they quizzed the worker down. Seems like a lot of work for tracking a low-wage worker.
The documents provide new clarity about a much-talked-about but until now opaque process Amazon uses to punish associates it believes are wasting time.
