A few people brought this one to me. The last company in the 3 1/2″ floppy disk business, FloppyDisk.com, is still in business, but he doesn’t expect to be around for long. There are folks still using them… half of the airplanes in the world, old legacy manufacturing equipment, and some of the healthcare industry too. My mother has a musical keyboard, but otehrs have sewing and embroidery matchines still using them. They are disappearing, and will someday no longer be viable… but you can still get them.
Floppy disks may have gone the way of the dodo and joined other extinct media such as punched cards and paper tape, but some people are apparently still using them, and one company even continues to sell them.
