There is a format of messaging called RCS, and it’s a standard developed by Google. There’s been a call from Google, developers of the Android phones, for others to adopt this format. Who is the big “other” in this? Apple. Tim Cook, however, said this week that he didn’t hear users asking for it. A reporter, just after Apple’s Event this week, asked what her mother should do… Cook answered with “Buy your mom an iPhone.”. In fairness, however, Google has been less clear on the direction they wish to go, so asking Apple to jump in, isn’t assurance of long term success.
