Two women are suing Apple for how the AirTag can be used for unwanted tracking. One of the women was stalked by her ex-boyfriend, who stashed the AirTag on her car. The other, by her estranged husband, who dropped one in a backpack. There have been some changes to the AirTags based on various security concerns such as this, so I struggle with the idea of a monetary settlement. It is rare to sue a manufacturer for how their product is used by criminals, and it sets up a bad precedent to allow this to move forward. It’ll be an interesting road ahead with this, and I’m sure that Keith M. Sedor will chime in at some point to talk about this.
