Any chances of a last reprieve from Microsoft in regards to Windows 7 and 8.1 has been dashed. Microsoft officially turned off all support for both of them this week, including security updates. This wasn’t surprising, but it’s also something that had to be done to bolster Windows 11. Windows 11 is up to just over 15% of the Windows systems out there… Windows 10 has just over 65% still, a year and four months after Windows 11 came out. If you are running Win7 or Win8, you should be looking to upgrade to a new system as soon as you can.

Windows 7 has had a long life, and even though Windows 8 and 8.1 were less popular, there are still many people who haven’t updated to Windows 10 or 11. Microsoft is now saying goodbye to both 7 and 8.1.
