Are you one of those that avoids self-checkout? I don’t care what you have as your reason, from keeping people employed, to avoiding the potential for being charged erroneously for theft some time later, but I tend to agree with you. Apparently, so does Trader Joes. Their own podcast announced just this week that they have zero interest in leaving the quirky family friendly local grocer feel that has kept them going for so many years. In their comments, the support of a face-to-face interaction, filled with smiles, supported a customer service approach that others would do well to listen to. Unfortunately for me, the nearest one is a hefty drive for me.
Trader Joe’s marketing director, Tara Miller stated, “The bottom line here is that our people remain our most valued resource…our crew will be in our stores to help you find your next favorite product, just as they’ve always been.”
