Netflix announced new subtitle appearance upgrades with the latest version of their software updates going out to televisions and streaming devices. You used to have to go to the website to update your preferences, but now it’s localized. Part of me wonders why this was such a large news article, but then I remembered that I’m part of the 62% of Americans that watch streaming services with subtitles. Nerds have noted that the way movies, music, and sound are mixed has changed, but also the fact that most televisions aren’t exactly high-fidelity, with rear firing speakers, a quest for reduced space, and other adaptions that don’t account for clarity in random locations around the home. If you experience problems with clear audio on your TV, consider a soundbar.
Netflix TV users can now customize the appearance of subtitles and closed captions on the streaming platform, allowing subscribers to adjust the size and style of the text.
