Many companies are still bursting into the AR/VR space, and Steve will talk some of that on this week’s show. One company, called Sightful, has a coming product called Spacetop. Think of a laptop, but without the traditional fold up screen. Instead, you put on a set of AR goggles, AR being an overlay on the world about you. This is a spin on a concept that we’ve seen coming for a while, but now it looks about 6 months out. There are downsides, like Android OS, a 4 year old processor, and unremarkable specs on the actual specs… the googles. 1000 people will get the privilege to buy these at the overpriced rate of $2000, so I’m not thrilled, but perhaps that will enable more at a cheaper rate, and will creep down to a more approachable level soon enough. We’re watching…

The Sightful Spacetop substitutes an AR headset for a laptop screen, and the 100-inch virtual display it produces is sharp and intuitive. We go hands-on with Sightful’s attempt to reshape the laptop market.
