Microsoft announced that Bing will now provide shopping guides for you based on your desire to purchase specific products. I like buying guides, and I provided one here on the show for over 10 years. The problem is that amongst the problems already fraught with the buying guides, adding the AI issue into it rather than actual experience is something that seems scary. “Oh, trust the computer to make a recommendation on wine / cars / shoes”. It lacks the ability to process these elements fairly and impartially, which will result in even worse reviews than we already see.
Microsoft has launched a range of AI-generated shopping tools for Bing search results and the Edge browser as it continues to implement ChatGPT across its portfolio. These tools include buying guides for popular categories, summarized reviews and a price match comparison tool available to all U.S. users from today, June 29.
