Gigabyte is a major motherboard manufacturer if you’re going DIY. Apparently, it also has a backdoor that will install updates to the firmware. Where this goes south, is that the servers that serve up the firmware updates, are not secure. This could lead to a major serious hack against many PC owners, in an area that isn’t easily fixed. There’s a lot to this, but the biggest thing right now is that it’s a major blunder by Gigabyte, and will set them back for a while.
