Reddit is starting up the idea of taking the heavy handed approach to the objectors who created a type of boycott. The boycott was to shutter the communities, or at least make them private, all in response to Reddit’s introduction of some steep charges for programming access. The solution appears to be that Reddit will replace inactive moderation, vandals, and squatters. In all fairness, Reddit owns the venue, so they get to control what happens. I’m sure that Reddit’s struggles will continue for a while.

Reddit is sending strongly-worded messages to moderators of some protesting subreddits that indicate the company may take actions to remove moderators or reopen communities.
