Ford has shifted how they offer their BlueCruise, a Level 2 driver-assist feature. They are offering it up as a monthly, annual, or permanent feature, much like a lot of the other services from other manufacturers. They are hoping to drive increased sales, as well as that long-term revenue from residuals. Imagine a 15 year old car, still bringing in a $1000 fee for the right to have self-driving. Of course, Ford is already late to the game, as Tesla and GM have been offering a similar subscription service to take our money for a while now.
