Georgia is now home to a new nuclear reactor, the first newly constructed unit in over 3 decades. It’ll power 500,000 homes and businesses when at full strength. I’m fond of this, as it is one of the better long term options for electricity generation. It is better than burning coal, due to the air quality. It’s better than windmills that kill birds, and generate massive fiberglass waste. It’s better than sprawling fields of solar energy farms that waste space and don’t work at night, requiring batteries that are also not ecologically sound. Oh, and the output is huge, and the cost for the output on nuclear reactors, is a drop in the bucket. It’s worth everyone taking a closer look!
