It’s no secret to customers that Google and Apple hold a monopoly on each of their respective app stores. A federal jury in San Francisco this past week found that the Google App store, legally is that. The 30% fees that both platforms charge the authors of apps, and all of the different lock-downs and scare tactics to prevent people from straying to other locations is going to come increasingly under fire. This isn’t going to be the end of this road as multiple countries, states, software creators, and more are launching lawsuits that may inundate Google and Apple, and change the face of the app marketplace.
Fortnite maker Epic Games won its antitrust lawsuit against Google. It’s not the first attack on Google and Apple’s app stores, and it won’t be the last.
