E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo announced their demise. It was around for over 20 years, and the Computer Talk Radio team attended it for around 5 or 6 years of that time. E3 was one of the most chaotic visual experiences imaginable, with video games, characters, lights, and more, all overwhelming the senses. It’s biggest problem was a constant drive for building year over year in a market that was growing big enough to perform their own releases. Further, COVID-19 impacted hard, with a force to going digital-only, but then it wasn’t able to spin up again after that. CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, has been faltering since COVID-19 as well… showing attendance that was half of the pre-COVID world.
E3 is going away forever, with the once-vaunted gaming convention no longer set to return.
