Florida is the latest state to be making legislation that would prohibit anyone under the age of 16 from using social media, potentially making it one of the strictest laws in the country making an effort to protect children online. Despite some concerns First Amendment issues, the bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support and was sent to the Florida state Senate about a week back. This is an area that I struggle with, as we know that there are problems with youth accessing, but the flip side is that for years they were banned, but still got through onto the platforms. My ultimate feeling is that it’s up to parents to be parents and guide and train their children how to deal with all aspects of the world.

The Florida proposal is latest in a slew of statehouse bills aimed reducing the harm of social media on children.
