I’m astounded at the latest revation from Amazon. This week, a report revealed that Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” technology, which was supposed to let customers shop without waiting in checkout lines, actually required the help of 1,000 workers in India to manually check transactions. This technology, initially hailed for its advanced computer vision capabilities, turned out to rely heavily on human labor to confirm purchases. Despite claims of full automation, approximately 700 out of ever 1000 transactions needed a human check. Now, Amazon plans to replace this system with Dash Carts in their Fresh stores, aiming to meet customer demands for more interactive shopping experiences.

Amazon’s Just Walk Out Tech: As many as 1,000 workers in India were required to review what the customers picked up, and ultimately walked out with from Amazon’s Just Walk Out-enabled stores
