Best Buy’s shuffling and restructuring is continuing with more layoffs last week. Many sales staff lost their jobs or saw pay cuts, especially in-home sales roles known as designers. Designers used to visit homes to recommend products but those remaining will now work in stores. The company is trying to cope with reduced sales after a pandemic surge in electronics spending. Best Buy’s CEO had hinted at these changes earlier this year, affecting roles like Geek Squad and in-store consultants. Unfortunately, some of the restructuring also appears to be hitting the pay structure, with some folks moving from workable salaries to minimum wage.

Best Buy has laid off high-paid sales employees and restructured pay for others as it continues to deal with flagging sales in its retail stores.
