Spotify and Max (formerly HBO Max) both bumped prices this week. This places Spotify at $3 a month more than Apple, for 2 streamers, while Apple Family allows up to six. Apple also offers up additional listening features like lossless audio, Spatial Audio, and more. The claim by both Spotify and Max are that they are providing for future investment and innovation, but some of the numbers don’t add up. I don’t mind as much when companies improving services and then bump the prices, but the brazen attitude towards increasing prices without delivering more is wearing thin on me, and many of the customers out there.
Spotify is once again raising the price of Spotify Premium in the United States. Although the ad-supported free tier remains available, the price of Spotify’s Premium tier is now more expensive than Apple Music. Spotify customers will be notified of the increases over the next month.
