You’ve got a game that you’re interested in, but you aren’t sure if it’ll work on your computer. There’s so much involved in this, that it gets insane at times. What’s your CPU? Your memory? Hard Drive Space? Those are easy, but what about the video card? Will everything come together properly for an optimal gaming experience? This neat little web app inspects your PC’s hardware and software settings to determine whether or not it meets gaming requirements for a game of your choice.

Computer Talk Radio weekly show for the broadcast week starting May 12th, 2012. Benjamin Rockwell, the nerd behind the mic, started off with news of bad people on Facebook, a new app to report problems to the TSA, Google’s self driving car, and more. Then Benjamin had Chris Burkhart, the founder of a new Christian alternative to Facebook called HeavenUp.com. Louis Ramirez filled in for Deb Shadovitz, and covered how to watch for deals on Apple products. Benjamin then answered a couple of listener questions. Benny Rockwell, gaming extraordinaire, filled in a little more on movies based on games and vice versa, and how it rarely works well. Benjamin closes the week out by noting how you should determine your need for a new computer based on money choices, as a business does.

I’m a statistics junkie. I’m fond of television, having spent many hours in front of it over my many years, but while I’m not obsessed by it, I do like to follow what’s coming our way, and what’s leaving us. TV by the numbers is a site which covers exactly that… and next week, we’ll be in the heated renewal announcements. Many of the announcements for renewals and cancellations, and new shows have already come up, but the network’s will reveal the big stuff next week.

Fringe fans? It’s renewed already for 13 episodes…

Touch fans? Looking good, but not great…

CSI? Which one?

Breaking In? Cancelled…

BUT WHAT ARE YOU DOING READING THIS? Check out the website now!!!

Benjamin Rockwell, the nerd with the glasses, opened with the news, including Hulu and NBC locking down access to videos, Verizon’s LTE to the home, Target dumping Kindle and Amazon, and more. Then Benjamin covered ransomware, and Benny talked about microtransactions ruining video gaming. Benjamin talked about Moore’s law, answered questions, and closed with comments about a “religion” that promotes illegal file sharing, and the downturn of societies that might support something like that.

Benjamin Rockwell, our bespectacled nerd host, opened with the news, including Google Drive, CISPA, the new Netgear 802.11ac router, and more. Benjamin then covered a little bit in regards to one of the topics he expects to hear more about in the coming months to the election, net neutrality. Steve Keske followed with TV watching on the Internet, Benny talked more about the gaming industry, and Deb Shadovitz chimed in from the Apple front. Benjamin continued with information pertaining to saving ink and toner, and then closed with commentary on how the government may not be worth the trust we give them.

So, I was sitting at my desk one day, and someone sent me an email asking about my birthdate. I was thinking of narrowing down the date by adding some trivia about the date on which I was born. Sometimes people have those really cool dates or times, like my son. Benny’s birthdate was amazing… 51 years to the minute after the planes that attacked Pearl Harbor were seen on the radar installation at Opana Point, Hawaii… and his great-great-grandfather was one of the small team of men who helped setup the installation.

How do we track stuff like this in history? Well, HistoryOrb.com provides you with the information to know what happened today in history. There are a lot more tools there, but this gives you a head start to understanding what it’s about though… I thought it was amazing!

Computer Talk Radio weekly show for the broadcast week starting April 21st, 2012. Benjamin Rockwell, the nerdy host, opened with the news, including the birthday of the Apple ][ series computer, Presidential Internet strategies, CISPA (the new SOPA / PIPA replacement for cybersecurity) and more. Benny Rockwell (the_gamer) joined in with a mild Earth Day observation about exchanging games through a new service, and Deb Shadovitz joined in with comments on Dropbox. Benjamin tackled a few Earth day items and questions, and closed with a commentary about choosing the right provider for Internet services… not one like Carpathia Hosting (who helped MegaUpload), or GoDaddy which might provide negative connotations in regards to their salacious adult targeted ads.

I only wish that I could know all of the things that I need to know in the cyber-sphere by osmosis. Truth is, however, that there are many sites that I rely upon to give me more nerd information. Wired.com is the closest that I have found to the science side of an old magazine made years ago… OMNI magazine. OMNI had science, but they also had more of the fiction, and the stuff that is usually talked about on late-night radio programs, in what I think of as the modern ghost stories. Wired, however, addresses the fantastic possible (versus the OMNI improbable) and provides news and information the latest in innovations and technology, as well as adding in a number of computer related items. There are some nerdy topics but also some whimsical ones… that hearken back to my childhood fascination with Lego’s, my teenage fascination with fast cars, and my male fascination with bacon (yes, look up bacon on Wired.com and be thoroughly amazed, in wonder, and in awe!). I visit Wired.com around 3 times a week, and it’s not often enough!
