I’m amazed at the idea that we should vote on our smartphones. In a day and age where everything can be manipulated, hanging chads can be interpreted for or against, and hackers abound… this seems senseless. To push voting via methods that involve companies that overwhelmingly support one political party over another, and have closed systems that are free from observation… seems to be a recipe for disaster to any level of democracy. Tim Cook compared it to banking and health, but it’s not… the checks and balances are immense there, and I don’t see them taking place in the voting world.
“We do our banking on phones. We have our health data on phones,” Tim Cook said before asking “why not” expand voting tech to smartphones.
