Someone in Texas, during a recent power crunch, thought it would be great to adjust up the thermostats… from the power company side. This is not what you want in your house… 78 degrees (what they used) at the thermostat in my own home is 88 degrees in my office upstairs, because of the airflows. People who are elderly, or have health issues, may not realize they are roasting until too late. The claim is that this was an opt-in, but many folks had no idea this was possible, until their Nest thermostat was set to broil.
Power companies in Texas are remotely raising temperatures inside of some customers’ homes amid the state’s ongoing energy shortage.
