I’m in the IT field, and there are coworkers that I’ve had over the years that admitted to being diagnosed on the autism spectrum (in the form of Asperger’s). They aren’t always the easiest to work with, but we know that they will excel in areas where their strengths lie. For Google to take this leap in training managers on handling those on the spectrum is exceptional. The spectrum is such that some of the milder cases can blend in and lead the way, with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs considered as examples of success on the spectrum.
Google is teaming up with Stanford University in an effort to make its workforce more neurodiverse.
