Sadly, the idea of reaching out to 911 via a text message, a picture, or video, is going to continue being unavailable. Congress apparently is under the impression that we no longer need state-of-the-art 911 centers, and cut the budget to 2/3rds of the agencies that were hoping to upgrade. This abandonment of people who may need to provide details quickly and quietly, from domestic violence, to takeover robberies, and other scary situations where one should remain silent, shows us all what our politicians think of us. The article from a left leaning site noted that it was the left side of Congress that did the dramatic cutbacks.

The potentially life-saving ability to send texts or multimedia to 911 centers will remain out of reach for many of the U.S.’s centers.
