After an amazingly long time, Apple is now going to stop servicing smartphone devices that have been reported stolen or lost. This effort is to help in the prevention of stolen devices, through the lack of support. This is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that our phones remain ours, even if it’s really odd to wait well over a decade to implement such a simple feature. Now, if we can only get AT&T, Verizon, and the rest of the carriers to ban them from the network… the IMEI number is a requirement for any connection, so it should be easy, right?
