I struggle with the idea of making companies liable for the actions of their legal users. From addiction to caffeine, to firearms, and many other things, it’s a world where opening companies up to frivilous misguided lawsuits is just wrong. California wants tech firms to now be responsible for social media addiction in children. Why can’t the parents just take the access away? Why can’t the parent’s hold responsibility for parenting? Why can’t we just teach out children responsibility instead of addiction?

The new bill adds to a stack of proposed legislature drawn up to curb social media’s influence over children.
