A new lawsuit against Google alleges that the behemoth has been making money off their food by stealing away customers thinking they were bound for the restaurant website, and instead wound up on one of the many delivery services that advertise on Google. The Order Online button apparently hijacked the deal when the restaurant didn’t want to bribe / pay / succumb to Google’s price points. We’ve talked about buyer beware, but the game is much harder, and the only looser in the end are us, as we pay 15, 20, 30% more for delivered food, and the profits don’t stay local, but instead go to the massive Google.

Restaurants say blue “order online” button saps profits, diverts customers.
