Ever thought of hacking your John Deere tractor? We’ve talked about John Deer’s draconian fight against the right-to-repair. Their claim is that they own the software, and nobody should ever have access to their own million dollar tractors. Farmers have been working on bypassing that, and now some of them have been able to jailbreak their tractors, and control their own hardware to get the job done of providing food to our tables. This was announced at DefCon last week, along with many other hacks, exploits, and other tech oddities.
Exploit now provides root access to two popular models of the company’s farm equipment.
