Apple has long designed their iPhone in the US, but then made it in China. But with recent experiences in disruptions due to COVID, and the political strife between the US and China, Apple is looking to move to India. Some of the iPhone 14s are said to be coming from India, where Apple had already started to test options. Last year about 3% of Apple’s iPhones were made there, and this year it looks to move higher. This is an example of a diversification plan that Apple has had to ensure that their production lines don’t suffer as seriously during various disruptions in the flow.

Apple will manufacture its new flagship smartphone in India, the US tech giant said Monday, as it seeks to diversify production away from a dependence on China.
