Another blow to the electric car industry is happening as a number of EVs have been bursting into flames, or worse, in the aftermath of Hurrican Ian. Running one of these cars through water that is too deep, can cause a short circuit… ask me another time about water and electricity… which can then spark up a new inferno. We’ve already noted for a while that this tech, while amazing when it works, is also a problem for firefighters, as these fires are some of the most challenging to put out. Different solutions keep getting suggested, but it will take a long time to get them rolled out to the many fire departments across the country.
A top Florida state official warned Thursday that firefighters have battled a number of fires caused by electric vehicle (EV) batteries waterlogged from Hurricane Ian.
