While this initially sounds bad, hear me out. PC shipments are down 20% over a year ago. This is a result of multiple factors, however… and not just business giving up. First, the COVID boom of buying computers threw everything off… the boom was still strong into 2021 as people were replacing hardware. Then the lackluster Windows 11 came along, and Chromebooks proved to be suitable for simple computing. This all lead to what we have now… a lot of computers that will work just fine until Windows 11 is replaced by something new. Estimates place the recovery cycle for all of this as the latter part of next year, and I would tend to agree with this.

PC shipments are plunging by record levels as enterprises spend less on devices and sweat assets for longer in the face of a worldwide economic slowdown.
